Welcome to this article that will be talking about what the small gnats are on the peace lily. It’s something called fungus gnats. These are not particularly common thankfully as they can start doing quite a lot of damage if left without anything done.

The peace lily is a pretty hardy plant and will be able to withstand a lot of rough times. But when we start seeing these gnats that often means the plant will begin to mold, as the name suggested.

Below we will continue to talk about the peace lily and what some of the best techniques are for cultivating it. A plant is a great option for beginners to start out with, much because of the simplicity of growing in and maintaining a healthy plant.

Gnats In Peace Lily

As we mentioned at the beginning of the article previously, the peace lily will have something called fungus gnats growing and feeding on the plant. It can be a really serious issue if it’s left without something done about it.

The small gnats are insects that will start feeding on the roots of the plant. As you might be aware the roots are one of the most important parts of the plant to treat well. Without healthy roots, the plant will have a very hard time getting any nutrition and energy from the soil.

You might be asking what the conditions are that make the gnats start to appear and grow on the plant. We have found that overwatering and creating a too-humid environment in the soil is what seems to make them appear.

This is also a very harmful environment for the roots already. The roots like to grow in soil that is kept damp but also well draining. They need oxygen in order to be able to survive but also to prosper and continue to grow and grow.

The best fix for this might actually be to repot the plant. It will give the plant a new chance and opportunity to grow somewhere else. The new soil should not be that well watered, otherwise, you are just moving the plant to a new and just as harmful environment.

If you are seeing yellowing leaves at the bottom of the plant then you should probably read this article here, Peace Lily Yellow Leaves At Bottom.

Can You Spray Vinegar On Peace Lily

You should not be spraying any vinegar on your peace lily. There is a lot of acidities in vinegar and that will have a harmful effect on the plant. When you are spraying vinegar on there you will see a lower pH which causes miss coloring.

The parts where the vinegar was sprayed on will soon start wilting as a low pH is not a very great climate for the plant. You might see other parts of the plant starting to wilt as well.

Why Does Peace Lily Keep Getting Gnats

If you read the beginning paragraph here then we mentioned that the reason you are seeing gnats appearing on your peace lily is too humid of an environment. This is often caused by an overwatering of the soil.

We recommend trying to keep the texture of the soil slightly damp in order to still keep oxygen traveling through the soil. This will keep the growth of the plant stable and the roots will still be intact if something happens.

Welcome to this article that will be talking about how long you can expect a peace lily will live. The plant is one of the more common houseplants that people are cultivating and growing at home right now.

The peace lily will live for about 3 – 5 years or so. That is the average for the peace lily, but a plant that is kept really well will be able to live for probably a few years extra. Thankfully the techniques for making sure you get those extra years aren’t really that difficult.

Below we will continue talking about the wonderful plant that is the peace lily. It’s one of the best plants for beginners to start out with. The peace lily is pretty easy to grow since it’s both hardy and you will quickly spot if something is wrong with the plant too.

How Long Peace Lily Live

As we mentioned at the beginning of the article the peace lily can be expected to live for about 3 – 5 years in total. This time is if you are keeping the plant indoors since it is a houseplant. But the peace lily is possible to keep outdoors too, but for the longevity of the plant, you should keep it indoors instead.

We said that the peace lily also can be able to live for a few extra years if you can make sure it has a great environment to grow in and doesn’t see any hurdles along the way.

The first thing to get right is the soil and its condition of that. The texture of the soil shouldn’t really be more than just damp. That will ensure you have great soil which also lets oxygen through there to help the roots continue to grow.

Another thing to do would be to use fertilizers. These should be used about every 2 months or so. They are pretty strong so they need to be diluted to not harm the plant too much. But they will help immensely when the plant is having a hard time growing perhaps since there isn’t a natural influx of nutrients if it pot bound.

The last thing to get right would be to make sure the plant has enough sunlight each day. We recommend trying to get the sunniest spot for the peace lily. This would be a south-facing window where it can easily get about 8 – 10 hours each day.

Can Peace Lilies Live A Long Time

A peace lily can live a pretty long life actually. Often between 3 – 5 years, which is pretty long compared to other houseplants. The peace lily will also look really beautiful all along the way.

It’s rare to see the plant starting to wilting unless the environments are just so poor. The peace lily is generally referred to as a pretty hardy plant, making it a great option for beginners to start out with.

If you are curious to learn more about the longevity of a peace lily then you should check out this article here, How Long Do Lily Plants Last.

Peace Lily Yellow Leaves

If you are seeing yellowing leaves on your peace lily then that means the plant is getting too much sunlight each day. Indoors we recommend trying to reach about 8 – 10 hours of sunlight for it. More than that for a continued amount of time then you might start seeing a decrease in the plant’s health.

Thankfully the plant is pretty hard and will most likely start to recover if you find a shadier area. Water the soil a little bit and keep an eye on the plant so nothing else starts happening with it.

This includes placing them in the right spot but also changing the water quite often too. These practices will make the plants almost start propagating in the water since we are caring for them so well.

Follow along in the article below and we will continue talking about caring for the lily plants. They are a great decorative addition to any home out there and should definitely be on your watchlist for the next flowers to get.

How Long Do Lily Plants Last

As we mentioned in the first paragraph already, the lily plants will last somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks at most. But that is if you get them from the store and just let them sit on your living room table.

If you can place them in a spot where the sun is shining quite a lot then that will help maintain the health and look of the peace lilies immensely. We highly recommend reserving a south-facing window for this. The plants should ideally be able to get 8 – 10 hours of sunlight each day in order for them to survive for long.

Another trick to make use of would be to change the water quite often. We normally say you should do it every other day. But if you want them to stay good for a few extra days, then you should change the water every day instead.

As the water is left like it is, there will be bacteria in there starting to grow very quickly. If nothing is done then that will really start cutting down on the lifetime of your lily plants.

The addition of new water regularly will also introduce new nutrition to the plants. This will keep them fresh and vibrate for longer, which is something we of course want because we most likely paid quite a lot for them already.

How Long Do Indoor Lily Plants Last

If you keep your lily plant arrangement indoors then you can expect them to stay good for at least 1 or 2 weeks. But if you follow the steps we laid out previously here then you might be able to keep them for another week.

To keep it short, the best tip for prolonging the life of your peace lily plants is to make sure they are getting a lot of sunlight each day. Changing the water will also be a dealbreaker, Try and do that at least every other day or so.

How Long Does A Potted Lily Last

A potted lily will last pretty long. If you are able to propagate it and have a good root system starting to develop then we can see them staying good for at least a few years. They aren’t necessarily long-term houseplants to keep.

But just make sure you are getting plenty of sunlight and also a lot of nutrition by fertilizing the soil every now and again. Those practices will help extend life and also improve the health of the plant.

Welcome to this article that will be talking about why you might be seeing a double flower on your peace lily. This is really not a bad thing. It can sometimes happen and it really just means that your peace lily is living a very happy life where you are keeping it.

If you are wondering whether you should change something, then the answer really is no. You seem to be doing everything right. But if you would like to maybe learn something new about cultivating a peace lily then stick around here.

The peace lily might not be the most common houseplant out there but is despite that a great option for beginners looking to get into this space of gardening. It’s easy to care for plants and it also shouldn’t be understated how beautiful the plant also looks.

Peace Lily Double Flower

As we mentioned already in the article here, getting two or double flowers on your peace lily is not a serious issue or a sign something is wrong. Probably the opposite. The peace lily is really not the easiest to grow plants out there and will require some care to make it really work.

So to see that you are getting yours to flower not only once but twice should be a sign you are doing very well. The plant does have some requirements for where it’s growing and the type of care the plant will need too.

The soil where the peace lily is growing shouldn’t be more than just damp. This will ensure the roots have access to water all the time. But keeping it in this state will also make it possible for oxygen to travel through the soil and eventually reach the roots of the plant.

Without any oxygen in the soil, the roots might start to drown which causes an array of different issues. One of them being black and molding leaves. Really not something that we want.

Making sure the plant also has access to sunlight will be vital. We recommend reserving a south-facing window for the peace lily. Here the plant will be able to fully enjoy the sunlight and perform enough photosynthesis to generate energy.

Can Peace Lily Have Multiple Flowers

A peace lily is actually able to have multiple flowers. But it will only really occur when the plant is growing in a very healthy spot and has access to a lot of sunlight, but also the right amount of sunlight. Getting these things right is what will make or break the success of your peace lily.

Try and keep the soil well watered but also well draining. It shouldn’t be pooling water at the top of the soil. That will just make it really difficult for the roots to survive. Adding some fertilizers to the soil is also highly recommendable.

How Many Times Do Peace Lilies Flower

A peace lily will flower once per year. During the summer especially if it has all the right conditions for it. That means the temperatures need to be higher and the sun should be out more during the day too.

Try and use some fertilizers at the end of the spring. That will boost the nutrition in the soil and it might kick start the flowering process for the plant. That way we’ll have a beautiful peace lily flower and a very decorative houseplant.

Welcome to this article that will be talking about making sure you have your peace lily pollinated. This shouldn’t really be a difficult thing if you have a good community of bees in your garden.

The flowers will attract bees in your surroundings. The bees are what will ensure you have a pollinated pea flower. As they travel back and forth between the plants they will spread the pollen which is what makes the flower gets pollinated.

Follow along in the article below here and we will continue to talk about growing and caring for a peace lily. It might not be the most common plant to grow at home anymore. Despite that, it’s a great option if you have a small pond in your garden. The plant can actually be cultivated in both water and in soil, but more on that in another article.

Peace Lily Plant

Peace Lily Flower Pollen

As we already mentioned here, the peace lily plant will only get pollinated if you have a good community of bees in your area. This is not something you can make appear from thin air. It’s something that will naturally build up if there is nectar the bees can collect.

To attract a lot of bees, having flowers in your garden will be the first step. That will with years of caring and cultivating start building up a strong bee community. This is important because if you want to grow an apple tree at home for example, then you need bees to pollinate the tree. Otherwise, you can forget being able to harvest any apples from the tree.

If you are like most people and are growing the peace lily indoors then you should probably move the plant outdoors instead. That will help make it easier for the bees to access the plant. Indoors the bees will just have a really hard time getting to the plant.

Since the plant will be flowering during the summer, the temperatures should be high enough so you don’t have to worry about bringing in your peace lily during the night. Keep it outside until the season starts winding down. That way the plant will most likely get pollinated.

If you are seeing your peace lily flower then you should check out this article here talking about some of the things you should be doing, Peace Lily Double Flower.

Peace Lily Not Flowering

If your peace lily is not flowering then it might not have gotten enough nutrients yet to encourage it to start flowering. But it can also be that the plant is not old enough yet to start flowering. Sometimes it can take up to 2 – 3 years before the plant has established itself enough that it feels comfortable starting to flower.

If it’s a case of no nation then you might want to consider using some fertilizer. Since the plant is growing in a pot, there isn’t an influx of new nutrition except for the water you might be adding every now and again. This way we can help boost the health of the plant rather quickly.

Peace Lily Spadix Turning Green

If your peace lily is turning green it’s really not something you need to worry about. The reason for this process starting to happen is simply that the plant is begging to get older.

It’s a phenomenon that can be seen throughout a variety of different houseplants. When the plant gets older it might shift the focus from some of the larger and older leaves to the smaller ones instead.
