Where To Place Cactus In Home

Just like we said at the beginning of the article here, there is no set place where it should be kept. Having it in the kitchen or in the bedroom doesn’t really matter if it can’t get enough light during the day.

We aim for it to get between 8 – 10 hours of light each day if you keep it indoors. Outside this number goes down slightly since the strength of the sun will be stronger and easier for the cactus plant to take up.

But indoors we strive for the same climate as the cactus growing in the wild. A dry place where it can indulge in plenty of sunlight during the day. So wherever this place is in your house is where the plant should be kept.

Usually, a south-facing position will be where the most light will come in. Here we keep our cactus at home at least. It hasn’t failed us yet and we doubt it ever will.

There are many benefits of growing a cactus plant indoors as it will provide plenty of stability to the plant that it so desperately wants. It can grow more steadily and you will have a healthier plant in the end.

We also mentioned that there are some things that you need to avoid when placing the plant indoors. You should not place it near a radiator. This will over time cause the pot to warm up and eventually the same will happen with the soil.

No plants like soil that is too warm. As this makes the roots start to dry up more quicker. Watering the soil more and more doesn’t really work in the long haul. Because of this we recommend just avoiding a radiator completely when placing the cactus.

What Direction Should Cactus Face

The cactus plant should be facing south. Since this is the best spot in a house to get the full amount of sun during the day. We have found that following this rule is very beneficial to the plant and it will keep growing throughout the whole year.

But a pro tip is to turn the plant every week or so. This will keep it from getting all the sunlight on just one side.
