Jade Plant Turning Purple

As we said at the beginning of the article here, the jade plant which is turning purple in color is because of too much stress. This is thankfully an issue that is pretty easy to identify. You only need to pay attention to a few things.

The first is about the soil. Here is where the roots will get all their energy from and make sure the rest of the plant is able to grow and flourish in the environment that it is in currently.

But when it can’t get those nutrients the plant gets stressed and that’s when a shift in color will start happening. We recommend using fertilizers for the soil about every 4 weeks or so depending on the age of your jade plant. If you do it more often you might instead risk the plant starting to wilt from being too well-fed.

Also checking the soil is important. We want it to be slightly damp in order to have the best possible environment for the roots to grow in. When it’s not like that we need to water more or less, depending on the current condition.

Try and get the plant about 8 hours of sunlight each day as well. This seems to be the sweet spot for jade plants. It’s because of the sun the plant is able to perform photosynthesis. A vital process that generates energy for the entire plant.

What Does A Dying Jade Plant Look Like

A dying jade plant will start to wilt a lot and the leaves will begin to shrink and dry up. The plant might also start changing in color as we said in the segment above here. A stressed plant will begin to change to a more purple shade instead.

Any plant will begin to start dying when the plant no longer can access nutrition from the soil. This is the fuel for the growth of the plant. Without it, the plant instead will start shrinking and eventually start turning back to the soil.

The plant might also be stressed and start dying because of a lack of sunlight. This will also be shown by the plant changing to a much paler color too. This is easily fixed though. Move the plant to a more sunnier spot in your house, a south-facing window for example.

How Do You Take Care Of A Purple Jade Plant

Taking care of a purple jade plant there really isn’t anything different from a regular one. The plant will still want soil that is rich in nutrition and soil that also doesn’t pool water. When that happens, it tends to drown the roots and cause them to start rotting.

Ensure the plant is also getting a lot of sunlight each day. About 8 hours each day seems to be the absolute best.
