An overwatered jade plant will start turning black and brown in color. The soil has been overwatered obviously and the roots of the plant are currently trying to stay alive the best they can. 

Since the water is blocking out oxygen from reaching the roots, they will begin to draw. Once they no longer are living the plant won’t get any nutrition, or at least the necessary part it needs.
