Dill Plant Growing In The Garden

Welcome to this post about what you can do with all the leftover dill stalks you might get. These can sometimes be hard to find a use for, either culinary or in the garden. In this article we will discuss some of the best ways to make full use of your dill plant, and especially the stalks.

One of our favorite ways of using them is by using them in homemade vegetable stocks or in sauces and soups. It provides wonderful aromas and flavors. Follow along to discover even more ways.

If you are growing dill in a pot and wonder what the best way is to harvest it then we have written up a dedicated article that will answer some of the most common questions regarding this. You can find it here, How Do You Harvest Dill From Plants?

Dill Growing In The Garden

What Do You Do With Dill Stalks

Like we said in the beginning paragraph to this article. Some of the best ways to use dill stalks are in the kitchen. They provide fantastic flavors for soups and broths. Something we try to do a lot in our household is making stocks every other week or so. If I ever have leftover dill stalks they go straight in there. It’s a fantastic way of using all that you have grown and taken care of.

Dill stalks are pretty sturdy and will keep good for at least a couple of weeks in the fridge actually. So stashing up on a few of them for later use can be a very good idea. When we harvest from the plant we often cut off the entire stalk and then pull off whatever we might want to use. The best storage for the dill after this is by keeping it in a container on some dry paper.

If you don’t want to use the stalks in cooking, maybe because of the taste. They are generally a bit more mature or stronger in taste. Dill stalks can definitely be used in a compost at home. Even though they are fairly woody they will eventually decompose and provide healthy bacteria and nutrition for your compost. This can then be used as fertilizer for the next year’s growing of dill plants. Now we really have gone full circle with gardening.

Which Parts Of The Dill Plants Are Edible?

The tastiest part of the dill are the small shoots coming out of the stems. But that’s not the only edible part. The flowers are also very tasty and will have a more mature taste to them. Wonderfull to use in cooking seafood. The stems can also be used and are edible. Might be a bit tough to eat as they are but used in a stew or a stock then they are perfect. There is not part of the dill plant that is not edible, they just have different uses.

I don’t want to finish this article without inducing some tips on how you can get even more dill from your plants. Make sure you keep it in the sun for at least 8 hours if it’s outside. Never let the soil dry up and keep it instead moist or damp. This will greatly benefit your dill. But another important factor for a healthy dill is the technique you use when cutting it. You only want to cut stems where new growth is coming out. Removing the larger stem will give the necessary room for the new ones to come forth.

I want to reiterate again on what the things were that you could use dill stalks for. The best one we have found is in soups or broths. It provides wonderful aromatic flavors and lets you use the whole plant. Wait for the flowers as well, those are also a very nice treat to use.

Welcome to this post about how you can harvest dill grown in a container. It really is no different to if you are growing it on freeland or in a pot. You might just have to apply a few different techniques and the quantities will obviously be lesser.

In this article we will also include some useful tips for getting the dill to grow back faster and therefore providing more harvest during the year. This is mostly about where you should keep the plant and how you need to look after the soil.

If you want to read a complete and comprehensive guide about harvesting dill, that covers all of the most common questions then we have written an article dedicated to just that. You can find it here, How Do You Harvest Dill From Plants?

Dill Plants Growing In The Sun

How Do You Harvest Dill In A Container

Harvesting dill grown in a container wont differ a whole lot compared to just growing it on freeland. But you might want to be a bit more careful with the amounts you are harvesting. This is because the space of the plant is limited and so is the nutrition has access to. We recommend that you never harvest more than 30 % of the plant in one go. Doing more than that can cause a lot of stress on the plant and eventually you won’t have a dill growing at home anymore.

One of the best techniques and one of the most common ones when harvesting is taking cuttings where new growth is coming out. Since dill grows a little bit different than other herbs. It’s more of a stalk where the new growth emerges, the same technique applies. This way whenever you cut off one stem you will have two new ones coming out as they usually grow in pairs. Keeping this technique up you will soon have a whole lot of dill to take care of at home.

We also don’t want to exclude our recommendation of moving your dill to a pot instead of growing it in a container. This will give it more room to expand its root system. It will pay off with time as you will get more and more harvest the further along the season you come.

How Do You Harvest Dill Without Killing The Plant?

Harvesting dill without killing the plant comes down to making sure you’re never cutting away too much at a time. We follow the rule of no more than 30 % at a time. But it’s important that you let it grow back after you have harvested. Otherwise the dill plant will just start getting smaller and smaller with time. Following this advice will make sure you don’t kill the dill plant when harvesting from it.

Another important thing about getting more from your dill is where you choose to place it. It should not be kept where the sun won’t reach it. A lot of articles are talking about growing dill under UV light but that just won’t produce the same quality. It will taste a lot more if it can get proper sunlight during the day. Since you are growing it indoors and in a container you will want to aim for it to get about 10 hours of light every single day.

So reiterate again on what we have been talking about in this article. The best way to harvest dill that is growing in a container is by cutting stalks where new growth is coming out. This will ensure you have a healthy plant that will keep preceding.

If you are finding yourself with a lot of dill stalks left over then we have written an article that gives a lot of tips on how to use them. You can find the article right here, What Do You Do With Dill Stalks.

Weak Dill Flowering

Welcome to this post about why your dill might be weak. It can sometimes be annoying figuring out why the plants you have aren’t growing the way they should. It can be from a number of different reasons. In the case of a herb growing thin or weak it probably has to do with how much sun it’s getting.

But it can also be because the soil is not as healthy as it should be. In this article we will lay out a number of different reasons and some of the best things you can do to fix them.

Are you perhaps wondering how much water you should give your dill and what the downsides of too little or too much is? Then we have written an article dedicated to exactly that. You can find it here, Does Dill Like Lots Of Water.

Dill Growing Outdoors

Why Is My Dill So Weak

Like we said in the beginning of this article. The biggest reason for your dill not growing the way it should, by this we mean slow and thin is because of access to sunlight. We usually recommend that any herb or plant that is growing indoors will need about 10 hours of sun each day. If you have it outdoors however then it would be enough with maybe 6 – 8 hours. This really just comes down to the sun being a lot stronger outside directly, then through a window. Pretty obvious maybe.

One of the things we have seen that works really well is growing the dill in a pot and then being able to move it around the garden. This can be a huge benefit as it allows us to make sure it gets all the sun it needs but also puts it in the shade when it maybe is getting too much.

Since dill is a herb that only lives for 2 years, it won’t do any harm having it in a pot. Otherwise, with a lot of perennial herbs you will want them growing on freeland to further increase the root development of them.

Dill Plant Growing Outdoors

How Do You Grow Strong Dill?

So the sun is the main thing to look for and get correct. Other things that also are very important are how much water is in the soil and the health of it. If it’s very dry then the dill just won’t grow a whole lot. It likes to have a damp soil that never dries out or gets too soggy. It’s a balancing act that is very important. The beneficial bacterias in the soil are also very important to keep happy.

This is best done by fertilizing the soil every now and again. We recommend doing it about 3 – 4 times a year. The best fertilizer will always be manure as it’s the most natural and thriving one. Buying organic fertilizers from the store will work very well too.

I want to reiterate again on what we have been talking about in this article here. The biggest reason for dill growing thin or weak is the lesser access to sunlight it might have. If grown outside you want to have it get at least 6 – 8 hours but indoors this increases to about 10 hours.

Other things to manage is watering the plant. Never let it dry out completely, as then you won’t have a lot of dill left for the year. A final suggestion is harvesting the plant as well. Cutting of a stem every now and again will let it grow out new ones. But don’t do too much. If it’s still weak then never more than 10 % of the plant at once.

If you want to learn more about the soil that dill likes to grow in, we have written an entire article dedicated to this specific question. You can find it here, Does Dill Like Dry Or Wet Soil.

Dill Plant In The Garden

Welcome to this article about whether dill likes a dry or a wet soil to grow in. The short answers are a bit in between. Its best description on how the soil should be is damp. If it’s too dry then the plant will struggle too much and it won’t promote growth. It its too wet then it will cause the roots to rot after a while.

That certainly won’t either promote growth. So a nice middle of the road approach is the best. In this article we will discuss further upon what the best conditions are and when to water and how to keep the soil healthy too.

If you want to read one of our articles that goes really in depth on the topic of watering dill then we have written once precisely on that. Find it here, Does Dill Like Lots Of Water.

Dill Plant Growing In The Sun

Does Dill Like Dry Or Wet Soil

Like we said in the beginning of this article. Dill is a herb that grows the best when the soil is kept rather damp. Then it won’t have to struggle for nutrition and continue growing. But it also won’t run into the problem of having its roots start to rot. But going a bit over on each side of the spectrum will not have a huge impact. Usually you can balance it back again. What is important is not letting it go on for too long, that’s when it can become an issue for the plant.

The examples we gave for the condition of the soil really goes for whether you are growing it in a pot or on freeland. The easiest way of managing the soil is growing it in a pot. Then you have a much easier time taking the plant out and changing the soil if you so wish. It also goes a lot faster for the water to drain out of the soil.

That’s why we recommend using pots with holes in the bottom. This way in case you ever overwater the plant all the excess can drain out if it’s not too compact. Then you can discard all the excess water that came out.

Does Dill Need Wet Or Dry Soil?

Dill needs wet soil to really grow a lot. It will keep the roots in a healthy state of continuingly expanding. But if you are looking for a more concentrated dill flavor then having it slightly drier will provide that. The lack of water goes hand in hand with more flavourful dill. But having too dry soil will make it more vulnerable and might not last as long.

We said we were also gonna cover how you can improve the health of the soil. We have found that the best way to do this is by using fertilizers. This can either be the ones you can buy in the store or manure. Manure being the most effective by a pretty long shot.

At Least for the long term outlook of the soil. Nothing wrong with fertilizers from the store, it’s more that if you have the option to choose then manure will win out. But it does smell a lot so you should definitely not use it if you think that will be a problem. What these fertilizers will do with the soil is increas the beneficial bacterias that live in there.

I want to reiterate again on the question that we started this article with. Dill really likes a soil that is kept rather damp. Where it doesn’t dry out anytime at all making it stress for nutrition. Keeping the soil healthy by adding beneficial bacterias is also an important part of gardening that you need to master.

If you still are having trouble with your dill growing the right way. Maybe it’s growing thin or is weak, so we have written an article answering your questions. Find it here, Why Is My Dill So Weak.

Dill Plant Growing In The Garden

Welcome to this post about growing dill and whether it can take over your garden at home. Dill is fortunately a culinary herb that does not spread a whole lot. Although it can produce plenty of seeds at the end of the season. They can have a hard time establishing themselves in new places.

Since it only lives for two years we want to make the most of those years. In this article we will talk a bit about the conditions that dill likes and how you can collect the seeds and eventually grow new seedlings for the next year.

If you want to learn more about growing dill and the continuation of the dill line you have at home then you can read one of our articles. Find it here, Does Dill Come Back Every Year.

Dill Flowering Outdoors

Does Dill Take Over The Garden

We talked about in the beginning of this article, dill is not really a herb that can spread easily in your garden. Much of this is because it’s very vulnerable in the early stages of its life. But by the end it will have developed woody stems that are hard to succumb to any weather.

This is very good because we don’t have to worry about cutting the flowers to limit the seed development. Instead we might even want to have them come forth as they both are delicious in cooking but fantastic to use for growing new dill the next year.

If you have read a lot of the articles here on the site then you would know that dill really likes a space where the sun can reach it. You should aim for it to get about 6 – 8 hours of light everyday to keep it on track with growth. Looking after the soil is also very important. This includes making sure it never really dries out completely. Dill likes when the soil is kept damp or wet. Having these two things covered will make sure that your dill can thrive for the full year and come back strong the next year too.

What Does Dill Do For The Garden?

Dill does a lot of good things for where it’s growing in the garden. The first one is that it introduces more nutrition to the soil which will benefit the plants growing close by it. Another thing it does is attract more beneficial insects to the garden. Most of the insects are predatory ones like wasps. But on top of this it also provides a hosting place for caterpillars to mature on, more particularly on the dill flowers.

When it comes to collecting the seeds that the plant will produce, it’s fairly straightforward. It comes down to keeping it healthy throughout the season and not cutting off or picking any of the flowers. They will hopefully be pollinated and therefore develop seeds. Once the flowers are starting to wilt then the seeds will come forth and you can start seeing them. You will want to pick the entire stems of the dill with the seeds and all. But don’t do this before the seeds have turned brown and are dry.

Then you can pick them and hang upside down to let the seeds fall off once they are ready. We recommend keeping something beneath and drying the stems indoors where you have space. You can use them both in the kitchen or for growing seedlings for the coming season. The fresher the seeds are, the better they will grow. This goes across the board for any plant really. In the kitchen we recommend using them with anything seafood. Especially crayfish, that’s a proper delicacy.

I want to reiterate again on what we have been talking about. Dill is a herb that can produce a lot of seeds during the season but they won’t really travel around your garden and establish themselves. So dill wont take over your garden.

If you want to learn more about how dill will come back for the next year then have written an article just about that. You can find it here, Will Dill Keep Coming Back.

Small Dill Growing Outdoors

Welcome to this post that will talk about whether you can expect your dill to come back next year. As a short answer, dill will live for two years and will then of course come back the next year after you have sown it. But if you want to keep it for longer then you need to collect some of the seeds and sow for the next season.

Either that or doing completely new seedlings. In this article we will discuss some of the best ways to make sure your dill plant lives a happy two years and you get as much harvest as possible.

If you want to learn even more about the micro season of growing dill during the year then we have a dedicated article to that. You can find it here, Does Dill Come Back Every Year.

Dill Sprigs Laying Indoors

Will Dill Keep Coming Back

We did already reveal the answer in the beginning of this article if you will get your dill back the next year. In most cases if you have taken care of it well it will come back for the next year. It lives for only 2 though so keep that in mind. Then you need to collect the seeds or buy from the store and sow new seedlings. SInce it only lives for two year we want to make the most of this time obviously. That’s why this article will talk about what dill really likes to grow fast.

One of the most important things for any plant is the access to sunlight. This is the energy that makes it grow bigger and better. Without it you won’t have nearly the same abundance as growing something indoors under UV light. Outdoors we want the plant to get at least 6 – 8 hours of light every day. Making sure it gets that for the vast majority of the season will ensure its return the next year. It keeps us happy and thriving.

Another important factor in keeping your dill plant healthy is the soil. Dill really likes to grow a lot when the soil is kept moist and damp at all times. The best way to know when you need to water is to just look at the soil. If it’s dry to the touch then some water will do it good. But make sure that the water is not staying at the surface of the soil.

If it does then you most likely don’t have very good drainage in the soil. If this occurs then you need to be very careful not to water too much, here less will be more. The roots can quickly start to rot otherwise.

How Do You Keep Dill Growing All Season?

Pruning and cutting is another important factor in maintaining the growth of your dill. It might sound counter productive to cut it and expect it to grow more. But it’s true. It works by cutting off a stem where you can see new growth coming out. It’s the formula of cutting off one stem and having two new ones grow out.

I want to reiterate again on what we have been talking about here. Dill will only really live for two years at the most. So keeping it happy and thriving the first year will ensure it comes back for a second round. Another tip I want to include is that you can pretty much fully cut it down at the end of the season to get the most from it.

Are you worried that your dill will take over the garden the next year it comes back? Then you can read one of our articles that covers that precise topic, find it here, Does Dill Take Over The Garden.

Dill Growing In The Kitchen Window

Welcome to this post about how you can grow dill in your kitchen at home. Dill is a culinary herb that probably will grow the best outdoors. But this isn’t to say it can grow indoors at all. You will be able to harvest plenty of dill if you keep it in the right conditions and look after it every now and again.

In this article we will lay out precisely what is necessary to grow it in your kitchen. it all really comes down to keeping it in a sunny window and watering it properly.

If you want to read even more about growing dill indoors in a general way, then you can read one of our articles. Find it here, Growing Dill In Pots Inside.

Dill Plant Growing In The Kitchen

How Do You Grow Dill In A Kitchen?

Growing dill indoors might not produce the same large harvest that you could get if you grow it outdoors, but nonetheless it can be great to have in your kitchen. But there are of course a few different things you could do to make sure you maximize the potential harvest. This includes the placement of the dill plant and the conditions you keep the soil in.

The best way of preventing your dill growing really thin and scraggly is by keeping it in the sun as much as possible. Indoors you will want to aim for the plant to get at least 10 hours of sunlight. Any less than this and they might not grow as much as they could. Growing anything indoors will pretty drastically increase the amount of sunlight you will need for it. Outdoors that number goes down to just 6 – 8 hours. This is because the sunlight is a lot stronger obviously outdoors than indoors.

The other important factor you need to think about and manage is the soil. Since we are growing it indoors then you will obviously grow it in a pot. But there are differences between pots and pots. You will want to get one that has small holes in the bottom. This is because we want the excess water to leak out and not pool in the bottom of the soil. Too much water and the roots will start to rot.

This can go pretty quick. One of the best ways we have found to know if it has good drainage besides from it coming out the bottom. You can check how long it takes for the water to sink through the soil. If it stays on the surface for many hours it probably is not a good soil to grow in.

Can I Grow Dill In My House?

You can absolutely grow dill in your house. It’s one of the better herbs to be growing indoors. The most important part of growing it indoors is keeping it well watered in a sunny window. Keepin it like that will have it thriving and providing a lot of harvest. Make sure you never let the soil dry out completely.

You should strive to keep the soil damp or moist at all times. Dill is a herb that likes this type of soil. But you should also think about using fertilizers for the soil. We recommend feeding the soil about 4 times a year to keep it healthy. Of course you will want organic fertilizers so you can eat the herbs afterwards.

I want to reiterate again on what we have been talking about in this article. The best way to grow dill indoors in your kitchen is by keeping it in a sunny window. You also need to keep the soil damp and look out so no water is pooling.

If you are unsure about the benefits of either growing dill indoors or outdoors then you can read one of our articles right here, Does Dill Grow Better Inside Or Outside.

Flowering Dill Outside In The Garden

Welcome to this post about whether dill will grow better inside or outside. In all honesty, most things will grow better outdoors. This is because it’s obviously a more natural habitat for them but they can also take in the sunlight a lot better. But there are drawbacks of course that we will cover in this article.

What’s interesting about dill is that it can manage to grow outside for a lot longer than most other herbs. It can grow in conditions of as low as 25 degrees. Growth will of course be limited but it can survive.

If you want to learn even more about growing dill then you can read one of our articles that focuses on growing indoors in pots. Find it here, Growing Dill In Pots Inside.

Dill Laying Indoors

Does Dill Grow Better Inside Or Outsid?

We pretty much revealed the answer in the beginning of this article. Dill will grow better outside, but that will go for pretty much any herb. Growing inside is more about maybe not having the opportunity to grow outside or space is really limited. Then it can also be really nice having all your culinary herbs right in your kitchen perhaps.

The biggest drawback with growing anything indoors is the fact you need sunlight for the plant. Indoors we usually say that they will need at least 10 hours of light to be sufficiently provided. Less than this and the growth of the plant will slow down.

Now there are of course some drawbacks with growing things outdoors in the garden as well. These can include it being very affected by the weather elements that can occur. Not plants really like hail storms or massive rains. Scorching sun during the summer can also become an issue.

But will all these things still see more benefit growing things outdoors. Indoors the plants get protected by this so growing herbs in a pot and keeping them outdoors when the weather allows and then indoors when the time is right can be a good strategy.

Where Is The Best Place To Plant Dill?

Since dill is a herb that can only live for two years you need to pick a good spot in your garden to grow it so you can maximize the potential and the harvest from it during those years. This means that the spot should be able to get about 7 hours of sun each day. When you water the plant it shouldnt stay on the top, instead it should pretty quickly go down in the soil. Otherwise you might have drainage problems and that can cause the roots to start to rot.

I want to reiterate again a bit on what we have been talking about. We can establish that dill will definitely grow better outdoors even though it might have to suffer through some tough weather every now and again. The end result is worth it. But a good middle of the road approach you can take is growing it in a pot. This lets you move it indoors when hard weather comes.

If you are curious about the fact you can grow dill indoors and in your kitchen then you should check one of our articles. Find it here, How Do You Grow Dill In A Kitchen?

Dill Laying Indoors

Welcome to this post about how you can grow dill from the grocery store. Even though dill is a very easy herb to grow at home if you follow a few guidelines that we will cover in this article, such as placement of water and pruning. It can be nice to skip the first few weeks of growing dill seedlings.

This is of course when it’s the most vulnerable and you want this process to be over as soon as possible. That’s why it can be a great idea sowing dill from the store instead, or any pre grown dill really. Follow along and we will discuss the best way to go about this.

If you want to learn even more about growing dill and maybe you are wondering if it really is that easy to grow it, then we have the perfect article for you. It answers all your questions and you can find it right here, Is Dill Hard To Grow.

Dill Plant Flowering Outside

Can You Plant Dill From The Grocery Store

We briefly said that dill is a very easy herb to grow in the beginning of this article, that does really hold true. It’s a hardy plant that can manage temperatures even below freezing. But it can also be nice to skip the first couple of stressful weeks when it’s growing from seed and it’s as its most vulnerable.

This is when it can be a very good idea to plant already pre grown dill plants. Or it might just be that you thought about growing dill later in the season and didn’t want to miss out. In any way growing it from the grocery store is perfectly fine.

As dill is a herb that only grows for 2 years you really want to make the most of those years. When you get the plant of dill ready to be sown you need to make sure of a few things first. If you want to grow it in a pot then you need to have small holes in the bottom for the excess water to leak out.

Dill likes a soil that is kept moist or damp at all times. Therefore it should not be pooling water in the bottom or anything. A common practice is to grow on freeland and the best way to check if it has good water drainage is to just water the soil. If the water stays on the surface for a long time then most likely it wont have good drainage.

If you want to learn more in depth about how long a dill plant can last then we have actually written an article dedicated to just that. You can find it here, How Long Will A Dill Plant Last.

Dill Plant Growing In The Garden

Establish this first and the water accordly like we explained. Since you are growing it outside most likely you will also want to make sure it gets around 6 – 8 hours of sunlight each day. So placing it right in the garden is also important. These are the two most important steps to get right.

After that you can cruise through the season and pick and harvest as you go. Just make sure of course that you only take stems where new growth is coming out. This is the best practice to have for making sure you get the most out of your dill.

Can You Propagate Dill In Grocery?

I want to reiterate again on what we have been talking about. Planting dill from the grocery store is no problem. A good tip is to save the soil that’s surrounding the roots in the container. Make a well where you want to plant it and then put it down. Lightly pad the soil around it and make sure it’s stable. Water it like we explained and then let it do its magic.

Knowing how to care for your dill is very important in growing it. Luckily we have an article just about that, How Do You Take Care Of Dill In The Garden?

Dill Plant Growing In The Garden

Welcome to this post that will talk about some of the ways you can take off your dill in the garden. Dill is a herb that lives for 2 years and can provide plenty of harvest if it has the right conditions. It’s pretty easy to grow herbs but doing a few extra things will really help you maximize the potential of this fantastic culinary plant.

It can in fact grow in temperatures as low as 25 degrees but won’t provide a lot of harvest at this level. The ideal is somewhere around 70 degrees and this is where the real magic happens. Follow along and we’ll discuss how you can take off your dill the right way.

If you want to learn even more about growing dill and are still wondering if its a difficult plant to grow then you should definitely read one of our guides here on the site. You can find it here, Is Dill Hard To Grow.

How Do You Take Care Of Dill In The Garden

Like we said in the beginning of this article, dill is a pretty easy herb to grow since it can manage a vast difference in temperatures. All the way from 25 degrees up to 70 – 80 degrees. But it will certainly grow the best at the higher end. But since it’s so warm at this point then we need to pay extra attention to the plant as it might be in need of different things throughout the growing season.

One of the most important things to keep an eye on is the condition of the soil. If it’s really dry then you will quickly need to water it. Otherwise it might not take long for the plant to stop growing and start wilting instead. What we find works the best for dill is having the soil kept moist and damp at all times. Then you won’t run the risk of overwatering it and letting water pool. But you won’t risk it drying out underneath. If the top soil is damp then most likely that will be the case if you go deeper down.

You might have read somewhere that you can plant dill bought in the grocery store. We have written an article dedicated to that specific topic. Find it here, Can You Plant Dill From The Grocery Store.

Another important thing to keep an eye out for is how much sun the plant is getting throughout the day. Normally most plants will want about 6 – 8 hours of sunlight each day to progress and continue growing nicely. If it gets lower than that then you should be surprised if it takes longer for it to grow.

But if it goes way above that then you might need to move it. That can be very difficult if you are growing it on freeland and digging it up is not an option. We therefore suggest you plant it in a place where it can get a couple hours of sunlight every day.

Dill Flowering Outdoors

Will Dill Regrow When Cut?

Dill will regrow when you cut it. It might not grow back as fast as other culinary herbs that are also very popular. But cutting it back in small amounts at a time will make the time growing back a lot quicker. Small harvest wont shock the plant and will keep it steadily growing throughout the season.

The health of the soil is also very important. We usually recommend most home gardeners to fertilize the soil about 3 – 4 times every year.
